That's pretty terrible, as you know. First off, drop mending for guardian, and symbol of wrath for shielding hands. There's not much else you can pick from at this point; I'm assuming you haven't unlocked many monk skills. Also, you might want to grab some condition/hex removal such as mend condition/mend ailment or remove hex; however hex removal usually isn't very important in PvE, outside of certain areas.
Ultimately, I think you should just work through the campaigns and get the 30 attributes. Worry about a decent build after you've done this, unless you want to unlock some on your warrior, and then buy them on your monk.

Being Healing+Protection hybrid is considered most powerfull PvE template, so you should continue doing that.
Right now, look for replacement for Wrath, Mending and Healing Breeze in that order. While human groups will expect you to bring resurrection skill, dropping it in favor of skill that helps you actually prevent deaths is better.
Dwaynas Kiss should be your seccond pure heal skill, Shielding hands is awesome mitigation tool in early game, Vigirous spirit is inexpensive way to heal physical damage dealers and can be cast in advance, saving you energy during combat. Signet of Devotion is free, but slow heal. Key is to use it early and often (and not as last resort when you do run out of energy.)
This should last you till you reach desert, when you reach it, first thing you want to do is to get elite skill Word of Healing and replace Orison of Healing with it.

Most of the non-elite Monk skills, sadly, are weak in amount of healing. Some good ones are Patient Spirit (you can't access, it is from EoTN), Dwayna's Kiss (this can't self target).
If you can afford buying an Elite Monk Tome, learning Word of Healing would make your life easier during the campaign (remember you have to unlock it in PvP to be able to learn via tome). It is a very powerful heal and you can fill almost all the rest of the bar with prots.
Condition and hex removal skills are also important, so try to put one of each of those in your bar. This is another reason why Monks have to carefully choose to take a resurrection skill or not - you need to bring heals, prots, removals, and often a energy management skill (Glyph is very good), so fitting everything into the 8 slots can be tricky.

A new monk that doesn't actually instafail, and realises when a bar is not good! That is a good start already. Work towards getting word of healing asap, it will be your most powerful healing elite. For now, once you have guardian and shielding hands, you're pretty much set for until you get an elite. Pretty solid straight-outta-pre bar.

I wouldn't say that as there some decent ones and yes even Orisons although it has fallen out favour with most but pve wise it is still good skill and free.I still use it on some of my bars and makes for good self heal.
To the OP you don't need protective spirit where you are use guadian instead and shielding hands is good skill to fill one of those caps. You really don't need Protective spirit untill Sactum Cay.

Lourens, that bar could use some work.
First off, [Spirit [email protected]] is from Factions, which the OP stated he/she did not have access to, yet.
Second, even though Heal/Prot Hybrid has already been suggested, and is the strongest way to go in PvE, you've posted a pure Prot bar.
Third, [[email protected]] I can see for PuG'ing, but as zwei2stein stated, though they might expect a Rez, using a Heal/Prot in that slot could prevent deaths, thereby negating the reason to carry it unless you had no faith in the PuG. In which case, why would you be bothering to party with them?

It says early Prophecies so doesn't have WoH.Orisons is the only healing skill he has and he doesn't need Protective Spirit around there.

Nice Bar, SoD is a good elite, Since he has tyria only I guess the bar would be something like this:
[Glyph of Lesser Energy][Aegis][protective Spirit][Shield of deflection][mend ailment][remove hex][reversal of fortune][Dwayna's Kiss]
Since it lacks self heal You can replace [Dwayna's Kiss] with [Healing Touch].
Keep in mind this build is mainly efficient in later areas of the game. For the beginning parts you can use Snow Bunny's build. A monk's job is to keep team alive, I normally don't carry ress (even in pugs). That one extra slot can be VERY helpful.
PS: I know that he said early parts of the game and some skills are not necessary. Also this is 2009 with elite tomes and some faction you can get the elites you want in little time.
That's all for now I guess.

Start by dropping Mending. There really isn't a worse spell in the entire Monk arsenal.
Symbol of Wrath should go too.
I don't suggest Prot Spirit if you have a tendency to spam it. Spamming prot spirit is one of the worst things you can do.
My suggestion is being conservative with what you cast and go healing.
